The Inaugural Boston Sports Blogapalooza was held on Sunday May 2, 2010 at The Baseball Tavern in the shadows of Fenway Park. From noon until well past 6pm, over 80 New England sports bloggers, sports journalists, TV personalities and fans converged in one location to talk sports and network. There were no longer boundaries separating traditional and new media (social media and blogging). Blogapalooza gave birth to a tight knit community of New England Sports bloggers and media members where collaboration was welcomed and encouraged.

Palooza I Testimonials

Kudos to Joe Gill for organizing a very successful Blogapalooza. If you weren’t able to make it, definitely try and be there for the rumored 2nd coming of Blogapalooza in the fall.  In the coming days I’ll be highlighting many of the bloggers/artists I met and will talk about the various prizes and schwag I walked away with. There is just too much to highlight in one post (and yeah, I’m tired after a long weekend!)

On Sunday, I attended a gathering of area bloggers at The Baseball Tavern on Boylston Street in Boston. Joe Gill of Boston Sports Then and Now organized Boston Sports Blogapalooza and with over 100 bloggers in attendance, plus the endorsement of NESN and WEEI, it was a big hit.  And I was very happy to meet up with the always lovely Jessica Camerato and Dan Rowinski of and Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald.A big shout out goes to Red’s Army as well. I also say hello to Mike Hall of

This past Sunday night, behind Fenway Park, a subtle yet symbolic changing of the Boston sports-media guard occurred, giving unprecedented power to the people. At the Baseball Tavern, while the Red Sox battled for their pride in Baltimore, the New England Sports Network (NESN) sponsored the first-ever Boston Sports Blogapalooza.

You read that correctly: instead of cheap-shotting its competition into oblivion, New England Goliath sports channel thanked and saluted roughly 100 of its David grassroots challengers with chicken wings and sausage subs.
